The month of April is also the Barefoot Autism Challenge and you can join in…it consists of going somewhere barefoot for the experience and to show support for the autistic community. The Challenge was created by Tyler Leech, autism advocate and board member of the Iowa Society for Autism, who explains that the sensations of walking barefoot (often referred to as “grounding”) helps autistic people feel more connected to and comfortable in their surroundings. I discovered the benefits of grounding from barefoot running and hiking and believe that many people would enjoy and benefit from going barefoot if they gave it a chance. #barefootausticchallenge #barefootsue #newyork #barefoot #autism #worldautismday
