FRANNIE UPDATE!! We have some good news!! We took Frannie to the orthopedic team at UC Davis Vet Med for what we thought was going to be a CT scan to plan for her total hip replacement and they concluded that she does not in fact need a hip replacement! It seems that the joint has stabilized itself and that she is a whole lot more comfortable than before when we first started seeing issues with it in April/May. Doing the hip replacement would not provide any additional support or comfort. Her hip still does not extend as far as it should so she will always walk a little gimpy on that leg. Good news is that it seems her pain is well controlled there!!! The bad news is that now her right knee is what seems to be causing her pain and discomfort. Her doctor thinks that we can improve her comfort by increasing her muscle strength to better support the joint so we will continue with weekly rehab and water treadmill therapy at UC Davis. Meanwhile, we have started her on a new pain medication and will be starting Librela up again!
