Get the results you want! It starts with identifying your body goals/life goals and then having an open, honest and frank discussion with your surgeon. A picture is worth a 1000 words so I always encourage my Patients to bring reference photos of their desired results. This helps identify 2 important issues: 1) are your desired results realistic for your anatomy? and 2) what kind of procedure is best suited to deliver the results you want. The difference between breast reduction surgery and chest reconstruction is that the two procedures have entirely different goals! The goal of chest reconstruction is generally to transform feminine breasts into a masculine chest. The goal of a breast reduction is to reduce the breast size, but retain a smaller but natural feminine appearance without sag. Being able to breast feed a newborn later in life requires a technique that preserves that anatomical function. There are many different procedures to help you accomplish your goals.
