We left off in Venice, where our tour director organized a group rate for gondolas on the Venice canals. We each paid €25 to have between 3-4 people on the boats. Our next tour director optional was the Vineyard near Venice called Vignaluna. It was an awesome wine tasting experience, six full glasses of wine to taste, and tapas throughout the night. They offered shipping 6 packs home for about $150 per pack. We went to Florence for a day and weren’t staying nearby so it was important to make the most of the day. We had a guided tour around the city which was included but afterwards plenty of free time to checkout the sights. The Academia Gallery is a popular place to go to see the famous David statue, that cost was around $29-$38, additionally, people go up the Florence duomo which costs ~$45. Then we went to Rome where our Tour Director organized a pub crawl for €15, we had included one drink per stop plus discounted drinks throughout the night. EF used to include a tour inside the Colosseum prior to 2020 but no longer do, so the cost to get a tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum would cost around $38. Then in Athens, our Tour Director organized a food tour for €30. We went to a bakery, got Greek tapas, gyros, Greek donuts, and finally a cappuccino freddo. The Acropolis is included in the guided tour of Athens so no need to purchase a ticket there. In Santorini, our Tour Director organized a Santorini Volcano cruise with another EF group that was in Santorini at the time. The cost was €50. You can also rent ATVs here for anywhere between $40-$70 per 24 hours. Your hotel concierge can help book those for you. My total dollar amount spent in Europe on credit card was about $2500 including all food, drinks, extras, my side trip that I took to Meteora in Greece, a flight I took to catch back up with the group to Santorini and a hotel for a night in Athens the same day of my side trip. Day 42 - July 22, 2022 - this morning we started with a 9 am guided tour with both our Tour Director and local guide, Tuk. First, we headed to the flower market. We made orchid offerings to bring to the Grand Palace with us. Then, we went to the Grand Palace where we learned about its history, architecture and significance in Thailand. After the Palace, we took a bus to see a Thai Cultural show. We had the rest of the day free to enjoy Bangkok. Theres plenty to do here including the Jim Thompson house, Chinatown, Wat Arun, Wat Pho, huge shopping mall, walking streets and markets. Day 38 - July 18, 2022 - Maasai Mara Game Reserve - this morning we had another early wake up for an included breakfast before heading out on our all day game drive. We embarked on a full day drive, ready to see thousands upon thousands of animals partaking in the great migration. We followed a leopard for a little bit which completed our big 5 sightings! We saw a lioness stalking prey and her cubs have a play fight. Lunch was included on the savanna so we were eating amongst some nearby zebras and wildebeest. At around 6 pm, a lot of the group was going to enjoy dinner and wine out on the savanna but a lot of us also needed to use the restroom so we asked to be dropped off since they were gonna set up shop nearby. Today we had an early wakeup for pur transfer to the airport so we could catch our 9:00 am flight to Athens. The flight time runs about 2 hours and Athens is an hour ahead of Rome. We arrived at around noon and then got to the hotel around 1:30 pm. After checking in and settling in to our rooms, a group of us headed out to grab some lunch before pur 4:30 pm guided walking tour of Acropolis and nearby shopping area. Once the guided tour was over, our Tour Director arranged an added excursion for the cost of 30 Euro to explore and have a walking street food tour.
