Slugging = applying a layer of an occlusive product (eg petroleum jelly) on top of your regular moisturizer or other hydrating products to lock in hydration. It can be great for dry skin and I personally use it to target areas that get extra dry (not all over). However, it is not recommended to slug on top of active ingredients like retinol as it can increase sensitivity.
