Slugging = applying a layer of an occlusive product (eg petroleum jelly) on top of your regular moisturizer or other hydrating products to lock in hydration. It can be great for dry skin and I personally use it to target areas that get extra dry (not all over). However, it is not recommended to slug on top of active ingredients like retinol as it can increase sensitivity. It is also good to be aware that using an occlusive like Vaseline can contribute to milia so if you are someone prone to milia then slug with caution. #drkatiebeleznay #dermatologist #slugging #dryskin #skincaretips #milia

I’ve shared a number of other posts with some of my favourite sunscreens but am often asked to do a list of the best “affordable” sunscreens. I like a number of K-beauty SPF products that are reasonably priced (Isntree, Beauty of Joseon, Skin1004 and Purito to name a few) but those are only available online or through specialty retailers and I wanted to share products that can easily be found at the drugstore so here they are (in no particular order): Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Sun Bum Face 50 Blue Lizard Sensitive Skin Neutrogena Mineral UV Tint Biore Aqua Rich Ombrelle Face Lotion I also like many of the Vichy and La Roche Posay sunscreens but they tend to come in a little above the $20 cutoff point I used for this list. #affordableskincare #sunscreen #canadatiktok

Some of my current faves on the “top shelf” - These are not all used together or every day but I generally use retinol nightly, glycolic 1-2x per week (skip retinol if sensitive), vitamin c daily in am. Enjoy adding the HA serum to my am routine and have been trying out the other two (niacinamide and a brightening treatment) #skincareroutine #dermatologist #drkatiebeleznay
