Sprinkling your mattress with bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of essential oils will deodorise your mattress and leave it smelling amazing! 2. Who knew parchment paper can easily remove water marks from your taps, mirrors and shower screens?! 3. Using a cloth tied to a pan lid makes it easier to scrub your stairs and sofas as it covers more surface area and glides across the surface much better too! 4. Who else is guilty of overlooking these places? I am sure I am forgetting some too! . 4 places we can forget to dust: 1. Radiators - radiators can collect a lot of dust so I like to use a hairdryer to blast out any dust that has accumulated inside. This is especially important around this time of year to do so that your radiators run as efficiently as possible. 2. Door frames - this is easy to forget as we cannot see the dust that has built up. I use a damp duster which collects and traps the dust so easily! All you have to do is rinse it clean afterwards! 3. Walls - I have only recently started doing this as it hadn’t even occurred to me that our walls can accumulate dust 🤣 I use a flash speed mop with dust pads and they collect dust so well! Swiffer do the US equivalent I believe. 4. Blinds - again blinds can pick up a lot of dust over time. I use a lint roller for our fabric blinds which is great to remove dust. For wooden blinds I have seen a hack where people use a sock to trap the dust. Here’s 3 ways to keep SPIDERS and other insects out of our homes! I have been a woman on a mission for the last couple of days trying out these hacks to keep the spiders out! They have been everywhere! 🕷️These life hacks are not only easy to do but they also make my home smell amazing! 1. Add 5-10 drops of peppermint or tea tree oil to a cup of water in a spray bottle and spray around your windows and doors to deter the insects - they dislike the smell of both of these oils! 2. Add the recommended dose of orange oil to the water for your particular mop. I use a Vileda spray mop so I added 15-20 drops - again insects dislike this scent but for us it’s not too over powering like peppermint and tea tree so it’s perfect for larger surfaces like your floors! 🍊 3. Dot cinnamon sticks around your home - spiders also dislike the smell of cinnamon so I was quick to pop one on my bedside table! You can also do this with conkers but I chose not to do this one as it would be dangerous for my toddler! These are 4 cleaning tasks I try to get done monthly - I had many of you ask for a reel on certain time frames that cleaning tasks are recommended to be carried out. I have shared a ‘daily cleaning tasks’ reel and a ‘weekly cleaning tasks’ reel which you can find on my page so I thought I would add a ‘monthly cleaning tasks’ reel to them 😊 I hope you find it helpful but as always if I don’t get them done every month it’s ok - it’s just a rough guide and I can always catch up 🥰 1. Wiping down the kitchen cabinets - these can get a build up of fingers marks, grease and grime so I try to keep on top of these with warm soapy water. If you have gloss cabinets, I recommend adding a splash of white vinegar to your soapy water to keep them streak free! 🧼 2. Windows - Mine get covered in finger prints as Oliver has started toddling around and loves to look outside! I use warm soapy water with a little white vinegar. I also use my flat headed mop for ease and dry off with my window vacuum ✨ 3. Clean and deodorise your bin - wipe down inside and out with antibac spray and to keep odours at bay add 2 cups of bicarbonate of soda and 5 drops of essential oil to the base before adding your bin bag. 4. Deep clean my washing machine - I really try to do this monthly as I find it makes such a difference to how fresh our laundry smells!
