As you know, I don’t answer every single question I get from students in health class. Sometimes they ask personal questions, or the questions are too mature for their age, or they’re asking me permission to do something. But educators aren’t there to give folk’s permission to do something, or tell them what to do or how to do it. We’re only there to provide resources and medically-accurate and inclusive information. The hope is that people make healthier decisions that reflect their values, needs and boundaries. We might discuss all the potential outcomes of doing “a thing” or validate why someone may want to do that thing, whether it’s engaging in s—ual activity before 18, or shaving your p—bic hair. We may discuss ways to do that thing safely and suggest where to go or who to talk to if you need help. Ultimately, the only person who can make decisions about your body, s—x and relationships is you. I love the majority of questions they ask. I try to answer as many as I can and whatever I can’t answer is class, I answer here 🤎 #healtheducation #studentquestions #anonymousquestions #answeringquestions
