Night wakings and feedings look like this and then repeated every 2 hours.. but actually every hour bc he be sleeping through the entire process the first hour and is a hungry boy! The sleep deprivation is kicking in this second week after riding a high on the first week. It is absolutely exhausting. But the little coos and smiles in between just melt your heart and make it so worth it! I do have an oversupply so i try not to pump if i can avoid but this night i was super engorged and didn’t want to risk it. Youll notice i slide diapers under my babe. I try to do this method as often as i can to protect his spine so hes not constantly being lifted. I also have multiple bottles of milk in the fridge because i combine my fresh milk with the cold milk once it is chilled to avoid spoilage. Currently we dont use a bottle so i wake my husband to burp and swaddle so i can get back to resting. What it’s like to give birth! Come with me as I deliver my 5th baby. When I was pregnant with my first baby I had no idea what to expect when giving birth. I wish I had someone to walk me through how long labor could potentially be, the interventions that are used, and what my options were. So I decided to document and share my entire birthing experience from start to finish. I begin recording as my first serious contractions took place. I had been experiencing Braxton Hicks for several weeks at this point, but on this day the contractions were different. They were stronger and I could feel my whole uterus contracting, rather than just a localized area. They became stronger and I began breathing heavier. That’s when I knew the contractions needed to be timed. They say you know it’s time to leave for the hospital when your contractions are happening at least every 5 minutes, last for one minute each, and have been happening consistently for 1 hour. It’s called the 5-1-1 rule. I birth big babies, I am talking over 10 lbs, and never once was a c-section mentioned to me just because of their size. I have had an epidural for all my births so for baby number 5 I really wanted to try to have an unmedicated birth. Unfortunately I didn’t make it. I was close, but I knew I would lack the strength to push if I continued to suffer and fight the pain. I have actually enjoyed my epidural births! They allowed me to relax and be more present for the experience. Being able to relax is key too. Each time I tried to birth unmedicated labor wouldn’t progress. Please note, this is just my personal experience. Day 2 post C section. I was so thankful that my doctor discharge me early. I did not want to spend another night in the hospital…I was ready to sleep in my own bed and eat some good food! Day 2 was a lot more painful probably because the heavy meds were wearing off. Getting up and walking around seemed like more of a challenge and hurt pretty bad. They say you’re supposed to get up and start moving around as soon as possible after C-section because it’s really good for recovery. I pushed through and did some walking but I was definitely feeling it😩 I am so thankful for my family that all showed up to welcome us home. My mom had the house decorated and stocked with food. I am beyond blessed for the support team I have and will forever be grateful.
