If you see fishermen stomping around near Washington’s Puget Sound, they’re probably looking for geoducks. While it looks like an aggressive way to get them to come out, the fishermen have to be very careful when using their “harvest wand,” where they push water at the base of the geoduck while making sure the fragile clams don’t break. At Taylor Shellfish Farms, they do everything by hand, from planting to harvesting, and they ship about 1 million pounds of the beloved bivalves each year. #geoduck #geoduckclam
