Craving something cozy during the rainy season or when you're feeling under the weather? Try my version of the most underrated Filipino dish: Chicken Tinola! 🌧️🍲 For the tastiest and most flavorful Chicken Tinola, the key is in the marinade. Here's what you'll need: Ingredients: - 1 whole chicken (cut into small pieces) - 6-8 pieces of calamansi or lime juice - 1/2-1 cup of patis or fish sauce - 1/2 tablespoon of black pepper - 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder - 1-2 inches of ginger (julienned) - 1 garlic bulb (minced) - 1 onion (chopped) - 2 pieces of chayote/sayote (cut into chunks) - Rice water (2nd-3rd rinse from the rice) - 1/2 chicken bouillon cube - Chili leaves - Toasted garlic (for garnish) Instructions: 1. Marinate the chicken with calamansi, patis, black pepper, and garlic powder overnight. 2. In a pan, add oil and sauté the ginger, garlic, and onion until fragrant, and the onion is transparent. 3. Add the marinated chicken and pan-fry until it's lightly browned and the marinade dries out, enhancing the umami flavor (around 5 minutes). 4. Add the chayote, mix, and pan-fry for an extra burst of flavor (about 3 minutes). 5. Pour in the rice water and add the chicken bouillon cube. Cover and bring it to a boil, then simmer for another 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked, and the chayote is tender. 6. Add the chili leaves and sprinkle some toasted garlic. 7. Enjoy with steamed rice. 🍚 #Tinola #TinolangManok #ChickenSoup #Chicken #EasyRecipe #FilipinoFood #LutongPinoy #pinoyfood #foodieph #longervideos #kusinakween
