A montage of squashed pots from this year, pots thrown poorly and destroyed on the wheel, as usually it’s more straightforward just to stop, wedge up some more clay, and start again, rather than trying to spend time fixing a form that’ll never be quite right. I film so much of my making process that these clips gradually accumulate over the months. I’d like to say I never mess up but frankly every potter does, no matter their experience. It usually comes with a good learning opportunity as most of these will be down to a fault in my making, or preparing the clay insufficiently enough or just trying to rush the process. Thankfully, all the clay can just be scraped off the wheel, piled onto the workbench, and wedged up back into a usable condition to be thrown with again. Or I just lob it straight into my reclaim bucket, especially if it’s a thinly walled vessel slathered in slip. #blooperreel #blooper #fail #pottery #potteryvideos #satisfying
