For all the people who like to Brunch but don’t like to vote, let me show you how government can impact the quality of your life. A Baton Rouge city council woman has been working with residents of a neighborhood to shut down a Black owned business @boilandrouxbr. They took them to court after calling the police repeatedly antagonizing the business owners. The judge threw out their case. They lost. Meaning the judge found them not to be violating the law. That wasn’t good enough, now they started weaponizing the government against them. Using a lawyer for the city (Lost his job today because of this) to do the dirty work. Every election matters, because these people appoint and hire the people who work for the city. They appoint the members of the ABC board, which controls sell of alcohol. So when you ask why we don’t have more qualify Black eateries or venues, add up the legal fees fighting to stay open. Recognize that Denise represents a district that Black voters make up a large enough block to put her out of office. But y’all don’t vote… this was your Civics for the People session for the day. #AlwaysRising #KeepPushing
