“Hold my hand if you are scared” said the flatworm. Likely a species of Catenulida, a freshwater flatworm that doesn’t make us sick. They live near shore, closer to surface and around aquatic vegetation and decomposing vegetation (leaves, for example). They are just big enough to see withour a microscope, using good lighting. They normally eat detritus and bacteria/algae around the detritus (detritus is decomposing plants, animals or animal waste) They are an important food source for small fish and amphibians when they hatch out of the egg and are real tiny. I really only ever find them in late summer to early winter. #live #goinglive #livestream #science #microscope #microbio #microbiology #microorganisms #learn #flatworm #sciencecommunication #atomicforgedagency #mikecroscope
