San Diego police are looking to identify the man who they say stole more than a dozen phones from unsuspecting shoppers at several local Trader Joe’s locations, all in the same day. FOX 5/KUSI reporter Kasia Gregorczyk was a victim in one of these thefts. “Within a span of three hours traveling south to different Trader Joe’s locations, 13 cell phones were stolen,” said Cpt. Tammy Clendenen with San Diego Police Eastern Division. Police believe the suspect started in Riverside County on Oct. 17 and then moved quickly through at least eight stores in the city of San Diego. The City of San Diego began clearing out encampments Tuesday under the I-5 freeway near Friars Road along the San Diego River. “I mean there were dozens of people living on and around this island, and they’ve been here for a significant amount of time accumulating items that they’ve had in their encampments,” said Franklin Coopersmith, Deputy Director of the City's Environmental Services Department. The father of a Point Loma teen is mourning the unexpected loss of his daughter. Italia Bernay, a student at Point Loma High School, tragically ended her life on Friday on campus while a school football game was happening nearby. Her father, Robert Bernay, decided to speak out, hoping his daughter's story would help other parents and young teens. Two teenagers are dead and one is hospitalized with serious injuries following a suspected DUI crash in Riverside on Saturday, officials confirmed. Riverside Police said calls came into the department around 5:40 a.m. reporting a crash on Wood Road, north of Van Buren Boulevard. First responders arrived and found one of the two involved vehicles on fire.
