Long caption alert. A few months ago, I got routine labwork done for Zoe in preparation for a dental cleaning. Imagine my surprise when she tested positive for heartworm disease despite being on prevention medicine her entire life. (She tested negative at her annual exam this past Fall). If this unfortunate & rare occurrence happens to you & your pet, please contact the manufacturer. Since I submitted vet records & invoices to prove she has never missed a dose of the medicine, the manufacturer is covering majority of her treatment costs. I am grateful that we caught it when we did, for her compassionate vet care team, and the fact that Zoe has been as happy as ever during this scary time.
