If you understand what sensory experiences are regulating and what are overwhelming, then you can provide proactive strategies to prevent a meltdown from occurring. You can also help your child learn emotional regulation skills through playful breathwork and support your child’s emotional processing through mindful emotion talk! Once these skills are learned in a neutral, playful, and non threatening way- a child will learn to utilize these skills when their nervous system senses a threat (meltdown).
