What better way to break in my new sketchbook than covering the first page with cicadas? Living in the South, these little guys have taken center stage, and are impossible to miss. From day break to sunset, you'll hear them buzzing in the trees, and you'll see them flying everywhere (and often straight at you). Living with both broods (the 13 and 17 year broods) has been an experience this year, but a bug nerd, I've found it to be pretty cool. My partner doesn't agree at all.
