I repeat the same process for almost everything I paint or draw, regardless of the medium. I’m a watercolor artist before anything else, but the markers go almost 2x as fast as paint and it’s always really fun and relaxing. First up is lightest colors, then we add form with midtones. I almost always add some unexpected color into this stage, (with this pumpkin, it was a spring green). The final stage is what I consider the drawing on top of the ‘painting’ adding lines and details and this is the best part. The highlights never fail to make things look better.
