Got to see the final preview of @lempickamusical on Broadway, and it was fascinating. It’s inspired by the life of Tamara de Lempicka, a painter who survived through quite a lot of huge historical events. I’ve been obsessed with researching some of the characters portrayed, especially Marinetti. Something tells me his desire to get rid of all museums and libraries means we wouldn’t be friends…but I’m obsessed with learning more. David said this reel is a basically a love letter to George Abud who plays Marinetti And it probably is, because I was just soooooo blown away by his performance. Going to be honest and say this music is definitely for a *specific audience*, and if you ARE that specific audience, you will love it. Go in knowing it’s historical fiction, and not expecting a documentary. Lots of historical liberties were taken. Full disclosure, we have a friend in it so I saw it twice, once from the mezzanine and once from third row. It was light years better up close where you can truly appreciate the performances, so I suggest getting the close seats for this one.
