Four siblings in Sarawak came together to build a new dream home for their single mother to thank her for raising them alone after their father passed away. Mohd Fikri Morni, 29, took the lead in spearheading the effort, alongside his elder brother, Mohd Tirmizi, 34, and their two sisters. Pooling their savings, they managed to secure a bank loan to finance the construction of the home. Their old house, constructed by their dad 30 years ago, was falling apart. Fikri said they made the difficult decision to tear down the deteriorating house and rebuild the new one on the same site, describing it as bittersweet to let go of a home filled with so many cherished family memories. Construction began in July last year and was completed on 9 April, making this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri particularly meaningful.
