If you have in any way been a part of the “Coop & Mike” journey, THANK YOU! Looking back, its so hard for me to believe that a mere 7 years ago I was a struggling opiate addict, barely living day to day, fully immersed in my PTSD & addiction, controlled daily by a substance, with no direction, no joy, no happiness in my life; I was merely surviving, & never truly LIVING… But deciding to fight for me, for an uncertain future for which I only knew the alternative of was death; that was the best decision I ever made in this life; & then of course finding Alpha Bravo Canine & through them, being paired with Cooper 🐕‍🦺; truly CHANGED EVERYTHING! WOW… I can never believe how FAST time truly FLIES… 3 years ago today, after being urged by others to share my personal story of being a USMC combat veteran, who had struggled through 9 years of an opiate addiction to pain killers, as well as PTSD, Anxiety, and others issues, and nearly becoming a statistic through self-harm, to fighting my way out, getting sober, and having this amazing Service Dog come into my life in 2020 and literally CHANGING EVERYTHING; giving me the confidence and calm to put myself out there in an effort to hopefully inspire my Veteran siblings that are, where I once was, viewing this life as nothing more than a daily course of pain, loss and darkness; showing them there is indeed light, they can have hope, and they can FIGHT for, and find MORE… I’m not special in any way, I’m just a regular dude with an awesome dog, so the old cliche definitely holds true that “if I could do it, so can YOU”… I have found so much love and support here on @TikTok, more than I could’ve ever imagined when nervously posting that first video 3 years ago today, & I most certainly could’ve NEVER imagined the LOVE OF MY LIFE, & BEST FRIEND @Caitlin_brown coming into my life because of, and through Tiktok as well… She alone will always be the best thing that ever happened to me, so I’ll forever be grateful for this thing we call “an app” as it truly changed everything in my world, and God saw fit to utilize it to bring me the woman who would Love me the way I swore I would never be loved prior… Thank you all for the love, support, laughs, tears, & CONNECTIONS over these last 3 years; we hope for many more to come in the next 3+… God Bless & SEMPER AVANTE!… #foryou #onthisday #3years #lifechanging #thankyou #thankyoutiktok #veteran #addiction #ptsd #growth #servicedog #servicedogsoftiktok #tiktokcouple #inspirational #vettokcommunity #connection #love #grateful #humbled #usmc #combatveteran #keepfighting #🐕‍🦺 #keepmovingforward #coopnmike #coopnmikencaitlin

Two years ago today, March 19, 2022, I experienced the deepest, hardest & most difficult loss I’ve yet to feel in this life; the loss of my Best Friend, 2nd Mother, & the woman who taught me how to Love, my Grandmother, Jean Howard, or as I called her, “Mom-Mom Jean”… Two years has flown by in the blink of an eye, but the pain, grief, & sadness makes it feel far more fresh than 2 years removed should… That’s what grief does, it is all of the unexpressed LOVE we have left for those we lose in this life that mean a great deal to us… Far too often did I allow my addiction & issues/traumas obtained after serving in the USMC & in both Iraq as a Marine, & Afghanistan as a civilian, to get in the way & cause emotions & feelings like shame & embarrassment, & keep me from her & other family members… It robbed me of so much time with her, allowing myself to ISOLATE, & remain in my apartment like a loner when I had family there like her to support me… God how I wish I could have all that wasted time back with her; if there’s one thing you take away from this video, please don’t allow your traumas, issues or addictions to come between you & those who Love you!
