The court found that Hoover used his YouTube platform to promote these devices, significantly boosting Ervin's sales, which exceeded 2,000 units in a few months. Ervin marketed these cards as "novelties" or "political sculptures," but they contained etchings for lightning links, a component used to modify firearms to fully automatic. Hoover received a five-year prison sentence, while Ervin was sentenced to five years and eight months.
