You WILL NOT BELIEVE what my stool test to assess my gut health showed, and I am a naturopathic doctor. I was having some symptoms like the occasional abdominal pain. I decided to do an endoscopy which was normal and ended up getting billed $10,000 for it. Thanks to being misinformed about my insurance coverage. So I ended up doing a stool test to get a comprehensive evaluation of my digestive tract. The results were shocking to me. I had a pathogenic bacteria in my gut. I had gluten intolerance. And the combination of these factors had caused my gut to become leaky and condition known as intestinal, hyperpermeability. Leaky gut is a concern because it says the stage for a variety of other conditions, including auto immune disease. Now I have initiated a four R treatment protocol for gut health that I implement on my patience for myself. The first step is identifying any foods that are triggers and or pathogenic bacteria that may be present. I found that there was gluten which I was consuming that I wasn’t intolerant to, and there was this bug living inside my gut. The next step was identifying things that are missing and replacing them digestive enzymes which were sub optimal since I had food in my stool. Then there was repairing the lining with nutraceuticals that are designed to target the enterocytes of the gastrointestinal tract. And lastly, replacing any beneficial bacteria that may be missing. This is a proven structured approach for addressing gut health that needs to be personalized based on symptoms and testing.
