If I had to describe to you the perfect day in Kyoto, it would go something like this... First, we would stroll through the streets looking at cherry blossom trees during #sakura season. These are so special because they are only here for a short period of time and are so beautiul. Then we would grab some DIY Japanese style barbecue, with waygu beef, of course. While in Kyoto, we have walked almost 10 miles per day. It's amazing how the sites of the city have swept me off my feet. Kyoto is peaceful. This city is much slower paced and reserved. There are over 3000 historic temples and shrines that we have been checking out while we are here. And of course -- the cherry blossom trees are in bloom. This only happens once a year and we just happen to be here. It's something the whole country looks forward to. It's amazing. While in Osaka, I tried Takoyami, one of the most viral foods in Japan. Literally everywhere you go, there is a street vendor selling it. Takoyami is made of a wheat flour batter with cooked Octopus. To top it off, you can add spring onion, pickled ginger, tempura crumbs, and more. To be quite honest, it wasn't for me. If you're ever in Osaka, here's my list of top things you have to try... We started off the day with souffle pancakes. They are fluffy, delicious, and topped with anything you want (yes, even ice cream!) Then you have to take a walk to Osaka castle. Be sure to avoid the lines by getting a ticket online! For a snack, you have to try Japanese barbecue. I've eaten so much wagyu steak here it's unreal. After your belly is full, be sure to stumble into one of the many arcades in Osaka. Osaka is known as the food capital of Japan. There is literally food everywhere you go! Here's a rundown of what I ate today: Chicken Sashimi (raw chicken), Gyoza, Takoyaki (I dont think it lived up the the hype), Teppanyaki, and of course, matcha ice cream for dessert. Osaka is different than Tokyo. It's much more crowded and there's so much more street food. I feel like a kid again. I'm in a world of wonder, exploring, and finding myself.
