Or are your own insecurities getting to you? 🫶🏽More about the BMI scale: The BMI scale was created in the mid 1800’s by a mathematician, with no medical experience. He collected his date primarily from WHITE EUROPEAN MEN and created the weight-to-height expectations based on his preference and only this population — not considering health. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that life insurance companies began to use it to charge higher premiums to bigger people. 💰💵 BMI is comprised of a weight-to-height ratio, which has been used as a metric of (inaccurate) health. Unfortunately, this metric doesn't consider any other influences, such as bone density, body composition, muscle mass, body fat percentage, sex and racial differences, and other environmental and biological influences. Two people with the same BMI could have very different body compositions and health statuses!
