I am honoured to announce that I am the first ever Creative Director for @Nominal I assure you that you will be heard, understood and feel represented whether or not we come from the same background. Nominal has been a brand I’ve been wearing since I was 17, I am now almost 23. My sister introduced me to nominal and I would always borrow her pieces because I felt so cool wearing them that I had to make my own purchase. I never took these pieces off and I would always get compliments on the designs and how well thought and unique they were. The Arabic culture behind the pieces I chose and the messaging always connected me back to my Arabic heritage even though I felt far away. I’m half Palestinian, and half Uruguayan. I never felt like I truly fit in, I was never Arab enough, nor was I Spanish enough. But nominal made me feel like I truly belonged. Having such a diverse community I assure you that with the collections I design & further influence to the brand, it will always be brought back to its Arabic roots, but will also make those that aren’t the same faith / culture be represented in their own special way. I can’t wait to be a part of this community and to help evolve the brand in ways that make you feel confident from within. With love always, Leana.
