I read a quote somewhere once that went a little something like “horses don’t want to be forced” (I think it was from someone who had attended a clinic with Mark Rashid) and it has really stuck with me because it’s true. back when I was using more force and punishment (as I’d been taught with traditional practices) I was finding that every time I would add more force I would get farther away from my goal. it wasn’t until I removed the force that we made exponential progress.
