Happy Submarine Day. RIP to all my Submarine brothers . Every close brother I had on my Submarine are now dead and gone all before they were 60. They all died of organ failures and cancers way before their time. I TRY to live my life to the fullest on their behalf and to show my gratitude to God for letting me live longer. Sleeping next to a nuclear reactor under water 24/7 for months at a time breathing fake oxygen from candles during the days where everyone could smoke cigarettes to the point nicotine was dripping off the pipes. Absolutely no vitamin D. Working 6 hour on , 6 hours off , 6 hours on 6 hours off sharing a filthy bunk every 6 hours with the other guy who did the same job with showers only every 8 to 14 days. Imagine working 12 hours a day only sleeping 5 hours in a row at best. You don’t know if your family back home is OK. No Dr or dentist . Having only a hidden little damp dripping bilge in the torpedo room to be alone and read or pray. Being rigged for total silence weeks at a time. Some day I hope to share my whole story when I’am to old or worried what the repercussions are. Anyway a huge Salute to all submariners. You are special people with a huge capacity to handle pressure and stress that most people could never handle. My boat the USS Scamp 588 was retired in 1988 about 10 years to late.. lol. It was a spy fast attack Submarine with some stories that need told some day.#submarine #bikerguru
