No boat should be allowed to operate in any part of Nigeria without the provision of life jackets. This should be a law and has to be enforced properly. Life jacket is not luxury but a necessity. No matter how safe the boat is, passengers must be able to feel they’re safe in unforeseen circumstances. Many times we intentionally put ourselves in harms way expecting God to save us - this is foolhardy. My pain from yesterday’s news was that this was an avoidable loss. We must protect ourselves even if the government doesn’t ! May you and your loved ones not fall victim to any unfortunate circumstance.
