🚨🚨The Arizona Supreme Court ruled that “... all abortions, except those necessary to save a woman’s life, are illegal …” This decision is based Arizona’s abortion law from 1864. 🫤Most recently, Arizona was one state that passed a law which restricted the right to an abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. However, there was a section in that law that stated the 15-week gestational ban did not overrule any past abortion laws in Arizona, and in fact directly referred to the 1864 law. 🤦🏾♀️💆🏾♀️The American Civil war began April 12, 1861 and did not end until May 26, 1865. In 1864, black people were still considered property, women did not have the right to vote and Arizona was not officially a state. 🙄The 19th amendment which granted women the right to vote was passed by congress on June 4, 1919 but wasn’t ratified (officially approved as a law) until August 18, 1920. Moreover, Arizona was not admitted to the Union (United States of America) until February 14, 1912 at which time it became the 48th state. 💭 Thoghts? 🤔
