info
Training dogs like this can be challenging. Arrow is a genetically a reactive dog. This means he is hyper-aware of his environment, and his behavior can be easily influenced by things or changes in the environment. Arrow also has very thin thresholds for arousal, meaning he can get aroused or excited by things very easily. When you combine these two things together, reactivity + thin thresholds… and you also add in lack of training + history of reinforcement… you’re left with a dog who has learned a wide array of unproductive behaviors. In the training, we will have to REMOVE these unproductive behaviors (chasing squirrels, reacting at dogs, etc) and REPLACE them with productive behaviors (obedience, play, etc). Hit the follow button if you want to track Arrow’s progress!
