Jigs! Quick and dirty jig for cutting I Joist blocking Roseburg EWP package. Cut 1 end square, scab on a piece of whatever as a stop, cut a hole for your hands. Jig should be block length - 1 1/2" (edge of baseplace to blade) - 1/16". Blocks should always be 1/16" short. Then start cutting. . Why not use a mitersaw? Because I'll be done before its set up, plus I save the time breaking the saw down. It would have done zero good on this floor to get it set up just for this. Personally, I have found it better to skip a miter saw as a framer. We tried it and after 2 houses (back in 2008), all realized it wasn't productive. Beam saws and jigs are more productive BUT make each decision on the task, not as hard always this or always that. Little @Makita Tools USA blower is my favorite tool of the last year. #framer #framing #efficient #diablofreudambassador #huberpartner Oh and protect your eyes and hearing. It isn't difficult, you aren't cool squinting and constantly saying "what?"
