#onthisday ouuu I donāt think Iāve ever reposed this videoā¦ It is true I didnt tell the artist @KWON310 that it was my face until the 2nd or 3rd (of 6 or 7) sessionsā¦We were on a tight schedule as Kwon was heading back to South Korea within a few weeksā¦ I think I didnt want him to be nervous maybe?? Haha, in retrospect I could have easily told himā¦. Probably a good philosophy to always be honest with your tattoo artist (duh!)- He wasnāt mad of course, but definitely surprisedā¦.we spent a LOT of time designing the tattoo before we startedā¦Now that I can talk about what was going on in my life at the time, i can tell you a little more about the tattooā¦.It represents strength NOT ONLY for Indigenous women, the families and children affected by the residential school system, MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women), and the unique challenges faced by indigenous women everywhere making them some of the STRONGEST most resilient people in this present dayā¦.but also for myself as a first nations woman who survived and escaped domestic violence #mmiwHOULD go without saying, but I AM āstatusā First Nations, Miākmaq #firstnations ā¦ Anytime my tattoo is posted or I discuss First Nations topics here the comments section can get pretty heated. I do NOT tolerate hatespeech, or misinformationā¦ Keep it productive and positive please šš¼š©µ #dv #mikmaq #mmiw #canada
