Meet Ynés Enriquetta Julietta Mexía (1870-1938), the first Mexican-American botanist and an adventurer who traveled the world collecting plants for the Academy. She was hailed as one of the most accomplished botanists of her time, collecting more than 145,000 specimens throughout North and South America. She summed up her outlook on life with the words, “I don’t think there’s any place in the world where a woman can’t venture alone.” #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSTEM
