The lowest I’ve seen it is 118 during a recovery run. On average most of my easier runs it is in the 120s. Now also consider that I know guys who run a sub 6 minute pace at 118 bpm. It is all relative to the individuals fitness levels, and I am just sharing what I think works for me. Zone 2 seems to help, but that’s because you can get a lot of easy miles in without risking too much injury. The more intense efforts at marathon pace and faster, will also help improve fitness so likely lowering heart rate.
