#CapCut A carpenter bee wouldnāt let me walk past her the other day and I was incredibly confused why. I noticed her tongue was sticking out and then moments after she started flying towards the chip bag I was holding, and it clicked in my head what she wanted! A few years back encounters like these wouldāve honestly terrified me. Now that Iāve done a lot of exposure therapy and learned more about bee behavior, Iāve grown a lot more comfortable around bees and other hymenoptera like wasps too! I could tell she wasnāt being aggressive (carpenter bees never are- and only males really are territorial in my experience, but theyāre all bark no bite let alone sting) but I was very confused what she wanted at first. After she licked my sweaty fingers for a bit she flew off and left me alone. I love having small encounters like this with insects- itās very charming and always cheers up my day. Iām excited that the bugs are coming back out!!! #savethebees #savenativebees #savetherightbees #entomology #bees #nativebees #insectlover
