This plastic MacBook from 2011 has a swollen battery, also known as a spicy pillow. This #tech problem happens on all devices that have internal batteries, like a phone or #laptop. Thankfully this battery is easy to remove and replace because Apple didn't glue it in like with modern MacBook’s. I’m also able to remove the hard drive to recover the data, something I can’t do with modern MacBooks due to the drive being soldered to the board. An easily replaceable battery in a #computer should be standard #technology in 2024, but instead phone and #pc manufacturers glue it in so you’ll be pressured to buy a new one when it begins to fail. This disgusting #pc is in my repair shop because my customer is converting over to a laptop, and they want me to clone their data. Then we can have it for free so we can donate it to someone in need. But first we need to clean it. The most common reason #technology fails, from #gaming #computer 's, to workstation #laptop 's, is due to lack of maintainence. If your #tech gets slow after being on for a few minutes, it's worth checking the CPU heatsink first to see if it's overheating. Keeping your computer clean is key to having a fast machine. Why is #technology so disposable? From the GPU and CPU on a #pc to the NAND in a Smart TV #tech , everything seems like it breaks sooner. Even worse is when they're built like a #computer but you can't even repair it. This ASUS ROG Strix #gaming #pc has a Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU that caught on fire. It could have been much worse though, because I was still able to save this #computer by just replacing the video card. If this were a #laptop it wouldn't have worked. This #technology may be from 2017 but it's all my customer needs to play their games, so I'm glad I was able to save this #tech and even give them an upgraded 1660ti! #techtok
