HEARTBREAKING 🪚🐟👇From @louisaguirre 🚨ANOTHER DEAD SMALLTOOTH SAWFISH has been pulled from the nearshore waters of the Florida Keys. Important information below 📞 This one the FIRST dead sawfish documented in the upper keys. It was found near Islamorada this morning. @myfwc is now conducting a necropsy. As of Wednesday FWC has reported 28 dead critically endangered smalltooth sawfish in the lower keys from Marathon to Key West. This one is believed to the the 29th. This as more reports of other fish spinning and acting erratically continue to pour into the FWC hotline. Up to 40 species of fish have now been reported displaying “bizarre behavior”. Scientists still have not found the smoking gun and don’t know what exactly is causing this. On Wednesday @noaa announcing an emergency response to this event will begin Monday working with partners like @motemarinelab @ripleysaquariums @dynastymarine to help rescue and rehab sawfish found in distress. @myfwc is asking people who witness sawfish and other fish in distress to please make reports to FWC fish kill hotline at 800-636-0511 because these reports are an essential part of the investigation into the event.
