I’m such a fan of Regina King’s work. Embodying the unexpected and embracing the uncomfortable. At the beginning of this film, we see “For Ian”, the son she lost in one of the most traumatic ways a mother would never want to imagine. She’s given us a lot this year already (that she didn’t have to), speaking her truth, and blessing us with the timely work that is “Shirley”. *Which she not only starred in, but executive produced. ----- While we’re here, drop a line for the Black women in political representation in your neighborhoods who, in the tradition of Mrs. Shirley Chisholm, are doing the Lord's work.
