Dear Law Students: TAKE THE UBE! Of course, for those of you who only ever intend to practice in one state (that does not honor the UBE & reciprocity), this doesn't apply to you. BUt for those of you in the OTHER 35 states? We're talking to you. This is Joel B. Or "Bekker", as Ashley calls him. He's an attorney from New York that recently came to Nevada and took the Nevada Bar. Nevada does NOT honor reciprocity or the UBE, so Bekker had to take a state-specific Bar in Nevada. HOWEVER. Because Joel took (and passed) the UBE in ALASKA (and this applies to any state that you can take the UBE in), he can practice law in just about any state that accepts the Universal Bar Exam. Joel has about 32 days left to see if he passed the Nevada Bar Exam. We're lawyers—stereotypically, a lawyer is the photo next to the word "untrustworthy" in the dictionary.
