There's a painting there - it's just blending in! This is a plein air illusion of "Goose Island" on Western NY's historic Erie Canal. The geese have more or less claimed that little island, and I do think it's adorable, even though it can be challenging to paint in geese territory. The Canadian geese encircled me like pride of lions hunting! The original oil painting is for sale on my site. Note: This video was filmed ahead of time in early February to avoid disturbing their April/May nesting season. However, they were still cranky. Although I’ve seen this group of geese knock people off bicycles, I chose to stand my ground; I find they calm down if you ask them to calmly and with some authority.
