An update to my reconstruction of the Zoroastrian fire temple built by Ardashir I in 224 a.d. Ardashir I was the Sassanian King of Kings of Iranians and non Iranians. He built this structure and established his new dynasty after defeating the former Iranian Parthian Dynasty at the battle Hormozdgan. His bloodline bloodline would rule the Sassanian empire until the 7th century a.d. when Iran was conquered by the Muslim Arabs. Ardashir I was an artistic pioneer who revived ancient Achaemenid architecture and symbolism while also establishing new precedents that would last for the duration of his empire. This temple was one of those major precedents. We see its style and construction methods implemented all around the lands of the ancient Sassanian empire, from Taq e Khasra near modern day Baghdad to the citadel of Panjakent in modern day Tajikistan.
