excuse me but…this job description did not require “golden retriever energy” as a skill should you smile in your zoom meetings? here is my analysis. recently, I saw this on LinkedIn “people who study virtual meeting behavior recommend that participants smile 50% more often than they would in a physical meeting to “humanize” the interaction and demonstrate interest” whilst I have not been able to find a study that supports this, I do know that generally speaking, science tells us that smiling and laughter can be contagious?! at the same time, a study named “Smile Secrets: 5 Things Your Grin Reveals About You” indicated that smiling often could actually lead to feeling worse if the smiles are insincere. if you compel yourself to smile in an attempt to improve your mood or merely to conceal your true feelings, this approach might end up having the opposite effect. to be honest it makes sense, someone may say something in the work meeting that you may not be happy with. or it may even undermine you. but you smile all the way through it instead, suppressing your emotions, and indicating to the coworkers that they are slaying, when in fact, they are not slaying at all. my conclusion for now is that I ain’t gonna smile in zoom meetings when it’s not a true reflection of how I feel. people need to work for it! but I may re-evaluate this in the future! let me know what u think too :) #wfh #jobs #comedy #linkedin
