The annual herring spawn on Vancouver Island brings millions of female herring to lay their eggs, leading the males to release their semen to germinate all along the shallows of the sea. This creates an explosion of life where animals migrate for thousands of miles to come and feast on the dying herring, their eggs, and all that come to harvest. One thing’s for sure, it certainly creates a beautiful colour. . Our eco-photographer @seabound.jessica volunteered to take a plunge in the murky waters.
