AD | 🗑️Beauty has a #packaging crisis and the single-use #plasticsachets are a major culprit. And at the center of it, there’s Unilever, the parent company of @Dove, which is the biggest corporate seller of plastic sachets in the world. (Source: Greenpeace International Analysis) 🚮These tiny plastic sachets are nearly impossible to recycle and it’s polluting communities such as India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. 📈The company first promised to tackle the problem of sachet waste in 2010. Instead, it went on to produce an estimated 475 billion over the next decade, steadily increasing sachet production by approximately 1-2 billion items a year. (Source: Greenpeace International Analysis) 🕊️And Dove pumps out 1,700 unrecyclable sachets every second which results in generating billions of units of single-use plastic each year. 🚰Solution? Reuse and refill: Dove and Unilever have the reach and definitely the resources, I mean they’re a $60-billion-dollar company. Imagine how amazing Unilever’s reuse and refill stores would be worldwide. It’s not only cheaper for customers but more environmentally friendly. 😓But instead, they’re choosing to pump out 1,700 unrecyclable sachets every second. 📩Please join me in signing the @Greenpeaceuk open letter demanding Dove to end their toxic sachet sales now.
