Let’s talk about migraines. Migraines are one of the 10 most disabling medical conditions, ocur mostly in people age 20-50, and are 3x more common in women. Symptoms can range from person to person but typically include pulsating head pain, a visual or sensory aura which precedes the headache, light and sound sensitivity, and nausea or vomiting. While we don’t always know the cause, there are some known triggers discussed in this video. In addition, warning signs with headaches that should warrant an ER visit include but are not limited to: sudden onset severe headache, acute or subacute neck pain, neurological changes, headache with change in mental status, significant visual impairment, fever or repeated episodes of nausea and vomiting.
