t’s talk MULTIPLE CURL PATTERNS ON ONE HEAD!! (Ps- it’s gorgeous!! And not something you ‘need’ to address unless it’s bothering you!) Firstly - let me reassure you that nearly EVERY CLIENT that sits down in my chair has multiple curl patterns on their head! So what is going on… ➰IS IT NORMAL, or IS IT DAMAGE?➰ ✨If the curl patterns are on different SECTIONS OF YOUR HEAD- (For example, the nape or your neck is more or less curly)- this is very possibly just natural variation in your curl pattern!* ✨If your ROOTS are LESS CURLY or not curling at all, while your ends make perfect ringlets,- again, this could just be your natural curl pattern! ✨Meanwhile, if your roots are curly but your ENDS ARE falling more STRAIGHT,- like what we see in the before pictures for this client, it can indicate that the ends of the strands are stressed. That might be from breakage, heat damage, previous highlights… *(These are very general rules of thumb and will not apply in all scenarios. It is certainly possibly to have, for example, heat damage or damage from highlights in just one section of your head). 🍃This client had both NATURAL CURL VARIATION (curlier in the front and looser at the back of her head) and variation from STRESS TO HER CURLS (curlier towards the root and looser at the ends).🍃 Even with NATURAL variation in curl pattern, if you want to give your hair the APPEARANCE that there is a slightly more uniform curl pattern, you can do so with cut, product and styling! With this client we used the rake & shake method and diffusing to create the illusion of a more uniform curl pattern. ✨I hover diffused curlier sections where I didn’t need to encourage the curl ✨I pixie diffused looser sections to encourage the curl Do you have multiple curl patterns in your head? Do you embrace the variety- or do you try to make them look more uniform ?? #ottawahairstylist #curlologybymarilyn #curlyhairmagic #ottawacurlstylist #ottawacurlyhairstylist
