(and yes, i read the article). the author canât manage to speak accurately about Indigenous people, instead choosing to fear-monger about mythology (which is still a very useful way to transmit important knowledge, even empirical and observable phenomena). He briefly admits that Indigenous people arenât a monolith, yet insists on viewing Indigenous knowledge systems as a monolith anyway. He shouldnât be writing about this topic at all, because he doesnât even have a surface-level understanding. He also manages to insult Western scientists, implying that they wonât be able to sort through information to determine what is valuable and correct, as if that isnât the scientific process (and conveniently ignores the fact that lots of Indigenous folks are valuable members of Western scientific communities). Iâm honestly disgusted that @Forbes published this trashy opinion piece at all. Itâs racist, infantilizing, and most of all, wrong. Anyway, tag your favorite Indigenous scientists in the comments!
