Hummus, a traditional Arab dish, has gained immense popularity worldwide due to its delicious taste and versatility. Originating from the Middle East, specifically Lebanon, Palestine & Syria it has become a staple in many cuisines around the globe. Made primarily from cooked and mashed chickpeas blended with tahini (sesame seed paste), olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and various spices, hummus offers a unique combination of flavors that tantalize the taste buds. Its smooth and creamy texture makes it an ideal dip for pita bread or vegetables, while also serving as a delectable spread for sandwiches or wraps. Step 1 Soak 1 pound of chickpeas(garbanzo beans) overnight with a teaspoon of baking soda. Soaking your beans activates the enzymes that help your body digest the beans. There’s also reduces cook time on your beans. Using baking soda helps break down the proteins in your beans, making them softer and more absorbent.. Wash and boil the beans the next day. Once your chickpeas form a high foamy peak, it’s time to wash your beans.. it is very important to strain the first boil. When you discard the first boil, you are removing some of the unwanted particles that make it hard for your body to digest. This will also reduce your toot time🤣🤣🤣! (Gas in your!!!) Wash your beans and boil till they are like over boiled mashed potatoes. Basically when your chickpeas no longer hold their shape. Cool beans and place in the refrigerator or freezer. If you would like to freeze your beans for storage, you will have to reduce the cook time wash your beans and remove all the liquid. Then placed your beans in a Ziploc bag, flatten them out and freeze for later use.
